Sharing a meal with my family and extended family is my most favourite part. Reminiscing about the past and having great laughs while at the same time creating more valuable memories. Meeting and building relationships with new family members and strengthening existing relationships is another important part of Christmas celebration for me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cindy du projet <\/strong><strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>Cours de couture<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong><strong>\u00a0:<br \/>\n<\/strong>No\u00ebl est la f\u00eate la plus importante ici, avec un service religieux, suivi de beaucoup de nourriture, de chants et de beaucoup de plaisir. Partager un repas avec ma famille et ma famille \u00e9largie est ce que je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re le plus. Pour moi tous les deux sont importants\u00a0: Partager des souvenirs du pass\u00e9 et rire beaucoup ensemble et en m\u00eame temps cr\u00e9er de nouveaux souvenirs pr\u00e9cieux pour l\u2019avenir. We get up in the morning and eat together, and my husband shares with us from the Bible that this is a time to worship God. Then we have a service in the village to celebrate Jesus&#8217; birth. We have games, food, and presents, but I think the most important thing is to worship God on that day for Jesus&#8217; birth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenita, enseignante du projet de lecture\u00a0:<br \/>\n<\/strong>A No\u00ebl, les gens pensent parfois qu&#8217;il s&#8217;agit de nourriture ou de rassemblement, mais je pense que le plus important est d&#8217;adorer Dieu pour la naissance de J\u00e9sus. Nous nous levons le matin, nous mangeons ensemble, et mon mari nous explique, en s&#8217;appuyant sur la Bible, que c&#8217;est le moment d&#8217;adorer Dieu. It is the season where all Filipino people unite. Family reunions are very important as those abroad come home. As Pulangiyen we also celebrate <em>Kaamulan<\/em>, a thanksgiving for the graces that we received du-ring the year. We have <em>Panalangin<\/em>, thanksgiving for the harvest and many other celebrations. The search for an inn where Mary and Joseph can stay is re-enacted before the actual mass on the last night of the novena. Christmas is a special, festive celebration for Filipinas and Filipinos, marked by several gatherings and much gift-giving. Often, many overseas workers come home for a break so they can celebrate Christmas with their families.<\/p>\n<p>Typical for filipino Christmas are the \u00ab<em>parols<\/em><em>\u00bb<\/em> and the \u00ab<em>belen<\/em><em>\u00bb<\/em><em>,<\/em> the Christmas stars and the cribs. The belen (from \u201eBethlehem\u201d) remains a tradition in many homes in the Philippines. In the past, this used to be a simple tableau made from printed cardboard. Now it comes as stone, wood, glass, papier mach\u00e9 figurines. Our belen at the agroecological farm and retreat house is from the woodcarvers\u2019 village Asisan in Baguio. A typical set consists of the Holy Family, three kings, three shepherds and three sheep or lambs. But I thought three sheep is not enough. So I asked the vendor if he would sell me another three sheep, and he obliged. So, proudly, our belen has more sheep than the usual.
