My name is Joyce and I take care of the sewing club in Teouma Valley on the island of Efate in Vanuatu. I learned some skills from some New Zealand teachers and now I’m teaching them to mothers in our area. They use these skills to make and sell skirts, handbags and purses. That money pays for their children to go to school and they also gain confidence to teach others what they’ve learned.

Mi chiamo Joyce e mi occupo del club del cucito in Teouma Valley sull’isola di Efate in Vanuatu. Grazie a alcune insegnanti neozelandesi ho acquisito delle competenze che ora trasmetto a madri della nostra zona. Le nuove abilità permettono loro di produrre e vendere gonne, borse e borsette. Di conseguenza possono pagare le tasse scolastiche per i figli e acquistano pure fiducia in sé per insegnare a loro volto ciò che hanno imparato.
