I am Jenita and I live in North Ambrym, Vanuatu. I am one of 40 teachers, that will use the new literacy book in the local Rral language. It is a huge benefit that the kids can start to read in their own language. So far, we had only access to materials in English. I had to explain everything because they could not understand it. Gaining reading skills in Rral will help them later reading in English and allow them to learn what they need for their future. I can also read to them Bible stories in their own language and they are happy that they understand everything.

Sono Jenita e vivo a North Ambrym, Vanuatu. Sono una delle 40 insegnanti che utilizzeranno il nuovo libro di alfabetizzazione nella lingua locale Rral. È un enorme vantaggio per i bambini e le bambine poter iniziare a leggere nella loro lingua. Finora abbiamo avuto accesso solo a materiale in inglese. Ho dovuto spiegare loro tutto in Rral perché non riuscivano a capire. Acquisire le capacità di lettura in Rral sarà loro di aiuto più tardi per leggere l’inglese, e permetterà loro una formazione necessaria per il loro futuro. Posso anche leggere le storie della Bibbia nella loro lingua e le bambine e i bambini sono contenti di capire tutto.
